Tomi Baikie

Lindemann Fellow @ MIT

Tomi Baikie is a Scottish/Finnish physicist based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, originally from Wick, Scotland. He was previously a Research Fellow at the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge. He is recognised as one of the ‘most outstanding early-career scientists in the world’ by Forbes magazine and is recipient of several science communication and leadership awards. He writes and speaks about science and policy, and produces output into other related fields, such as science communication. Tomi is a fierce advocate for access to tertiary STEM education, previously working with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education and held a Governing Body Fellowship at Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge - the college that underpins access to the University of Cambridge from state school applicants. He engages from time-to-time in untypical microelectronic projects meant as pranks or in commemoration of popular culture. He has previously held roles or worked closely with the BBC, NASA and the British Civil Service. His website's biography is written in the third-person passive to appear more neutral and authoritative.
